It was a fast, enjoyable read. Metos, they discover the source of the strange illness, which involves a war over the Kingdom of Hades. The writing doesn’t flow, and the story winds on and on without ever coming to a complete climax: I’m not saying everyone will love it, but I recommend it highly.

Oh, it’s not the very cute kitten that appears out of nowhere and demands to go home with her. I think tue ground this book covers has been explored before and to better effect. What thleves Charlotte or Zee realizes is that a rebel from the Underworld has crept into the upperworld and is stealing the shadows of children to create an army and take Hades throne, and he’s using Zee’s blood which is also in part Charlotte’s blood to do it.
There’s enough suspense to prickle the neck, but not so much as to give nightmares to the littlest ones. A lot of long books are good because they have things to fill the pages, but this book did not. The story as a whole was pretty simple, but quite inventive, and I enjoyed it irsu it once it finally got going. And when Charlotte’s friends start to get sick one by one, Charlotte and Zee set out to find a cure.

I was a little disconcerted by the narrative voice at first lots of parentheses, lots of speaking directly to the readerbut then I settled into it thievws really enjoyed it. I grew really attached to the charecters. Charlotte and Zee are drawn into a conflict among the Greek gods for control of Hades; only by going down into the underworld can they heal the sick children. I gave it two stars because I did make it halfway, and because I am an adult who was previewing it for her preteens.
It’s not the sudden arrival of her cousin Zee, who believes he’s the cause of a mysterious sickness. Last two parts the writer does focus on action and some points that were blur now are clear.

At first I fell in love with the type of voicing this story had, with its intense sarcasm and all, but it grew a little old when the story didn’t have more to offer.
